I stepped out of my comfort zone with this space and chose a bold, playful wallpaper—and I’m so glad I did. Even with our textured walls, I didn’t need to skim them first. The wallpaper was thick and high-quality enough to go on smoothly and still look amazing.

White Oak Wood Shelves
We ordered these stunning custom shelves from Lyons Crafted on Etsy in their bare white oak finish—measuring 63” wide by 12” deep. Since they’re deeper than 10”, the company recommended using metal brackets for added support, and they were super easy to install. No LED lighting needed—just beautiful craftsmanship and amazing quality all around!

Lighting
We chose the Carins Wall Lamp from Las Sola in the cone shape, which is part of their modern drum ceramics collection. One of the features I love most is that these sconces are adjustable, making them as functional as they are stylish. While they’re originally designed to be hardwired, we opted for a simpler installation and used rechargeable light bulbs from Amazon instead. This setup has been working beautifully and gave us the flexibility we needed without the hassle of electrical work.
Tools & Materials We Used
We’ve linked most of the tools we used below, along with the exact shiplap panels we chose for the wall. Instead of installing individual boards one by one, we went with a panel-style shiplap from Home Depot—it saved us a ton of time and still gave that beautiful, classic look we were going for. David added the crown molding to elevate the space even more, and we finished everything off with a fresh coat of Snowbound by Sherwin Williams to match the rest of the house.
